National Nutrition Month

March 1st marks the beginning of National Nutrition Month.  Throughout this month-long campaign, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages everyone to focus on health and wellness by making smart nutrition decisions. Here are a few tips from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans you can use to start focusing on better nutrition today:

  • Emphasize fruit, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat or fat-free milk and milk products.
  • Include lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts.
  • Make sure your diet is low in saturated fats, trans fats, salt (sodium) and added sugars.
